Oooo I Think He Like Me...Maybe Not

I couldn't wait to get home.  I couldn't even focus on Jerry.  I sat in my living room staring at the lamp side table where the phone sat.  WTF was Marcelis doing?!  Why hadn't my phone rang yet?  Not that I wasn't always anticipating our daily call, but something happened today as I stood at the double doors waiting on my friend to depart.  Someone called his name.  Not Recognizing the voice, and me being naturally nosey(and petty, might I add!), I repositioned, discretely, and put a face to the voice.  I was right on both counts: A. I didn't know him B. His voice sounded like he was fine! Yup.  An actual stranger in this endless sea of familiar faces.  The fact that he wasn't dusty and was easy on the eyes both paled in comparison to the way I FELT when I heard his voice.  It immediately felt like HOME.  I HAD to know who this was.  It was the first time I felt someone from the inside out. After what seemed like a...

Teenage Love Affair...The Beginning

Ok, so it needs to be said when Marcelis and I became friends, it was the beginning of an era.  We clicked immediately, it was like we grew up in the same house.  I finally had someone inside my head with me.  Jokes for years, all we would do together is laugh.  It was this one time we made it our mission to uncover the truth when it came to perpetrating fuck boys/girls.  This particular instance was about a young lady whose family was pretty well off and didn't work a day we were in high school.  As an urban inner city teen, the boot of choice was a Timberland 6in Single Sole Construction Boot for Diddy Bops, and the Double for dudes.  Now, growing up in the South, this was NOT the case for the young urban population there.   First of all, most people do not I repeat do not wear boots.  If they do, it's some variation of a hiking boot, brand and style be damned.  I blame they mamas.  If you grow up in a world where lame is the ...

Who Is Avri James??!!

I'm going thru it right now!! I can't stand it when folk say, "I need to find myself!"  What exactly do you mean?  How can you have misplaced your own person?!  But you know what, I think I have lost sight of who I am, and what I want from somebody else.  It's been that way for a long time.  I've just become a master at pushing past my own feelings and keepin on, adapting to my situation, thinking every one of those could be the "One".  I don't want to do that anymore.  I want to feel like me again, I want to be in love. To begin my search, I guess I need to learn myself all over again, and remember what my past taught me from one relationship to the next about where I want to be.  Failed or not, there is a lesson in each, and I intend to go back and collect them all. So order to really know me, and to figure out where I'm going in this emotional labyrinth, we need to go back, way back, back into time... Love is an emotion ...

Elation

Do you know the feeling you get right before you fall asleep after an absolutely exhausting day, just as your head connects with your pillow and your body is absorbed into the bed?  I call that the Zone.  It is where I long to be on days like these. I need to be inspired.  It's about time my life yielded purpose.  Since I have decided that Love is at its best through the process of discovery, I have abandoned any attempts to hurry fate along.  Now I'm bored.  I have nothing to fill my days with now accept work.  I am so lame!  Why is the possibility of love so much more intoxicating than the reality?  Take a sonnet for example.  Aren't the greatest ones about love in the unrequited state? I want the passion of an unrequited romance with a willing participant.  I want warmth.  I want peace. I want to feel safe.  I want to feel like I never left the Zone.   I want my entire life and everything in it to ...

My Latter Will Be Greater....

So sweet to the ear, yet so bitter to the restless soul. I'm so torn. Do you ever get the feeling that you're not where you're suppose to be?  That's me.  I feel stuck.  I don't know where I'm suppose to be.  I'm soooo tired of waiting for life to happen to me.  I've done it all right so far, or at least I think I have. Put God first. Honor your mother and father. Love others as yourself.  Post-secondary education.  Career.  Wonderful friends.  An abundance of income.  Why Aren't I HAPPY? Why aren't I in LOVE? It's funny how things come into perspective as an adult.  The entire time I was growing up, all that concerned me was having my career and being successful by the time I reached maturity.  I didn't see the need in complicating my life with extra people, ie a husband and kids.  I always figured if one preceded the other, than OK, I would reproduce.  But as far as a biological longing, um, NO! I l...

Basic Bitches, Ghost Stories, and an Evening of Quittage

So Jackson and Elise have come to the conclusion that ElleRiche needed a digital connection to it's fans. A place where they could come on a daily and experience all things ER. We already have the website, but it just wasn't capturing the Essence of a lifestyle, hence the newest component, interactive blogging and weekly podcasts.  We started ElleRiche from their living room couch and haven't looked back since.  I like to think of them as a Super-Computer, because their brains are perfectly synchronized. When the two of them get together,  magic happens. So the brainchild for this week's show is to go check out these fools playing Quittage. You heard right. Brooms and all. The world needs to know this mess is going on. I'm not ready for this filth. What does one wear to an evening game of Quittage? I don't think I have anything that works with the broom. JackEl know they wrong for this one. I think our efforts to thwart the Basic Bitch at all costs has go...

I'm Here...

Let me just start by saying I LOVE BEING ME. I wake up elated. My life is pretty fabulous, but I go to pain-staking lengths on a daily basis to keep it that way. My name is Avri James. I'm 25 years old, single, successful, and relatively sane. I'm a Visual Merchandising Consultant for one of the fastest rising retail brands in the US. I like being there from the beginning. The success of the label feels personal. I love the people I'm surrounded by, and have a weakness for a well-made bag/shoe combination. I live by myself in a downtown apt. Just off of Queens St . Something about this place calls me. I think I must have been some type of wealthy well-to-do socialite in a past life. I don't consider myself special,  which is what all the front antics were about.  All of the above mentioned were choices. Decisions to do the latter. With that being said, do you know what that means? If this isn't the life you're living at this very moment,  you're choosi...
